Web Development Fundamentals (SDEV 1021)

Course Overview:

In Web Development and Fundamentals you learn the skills required to create a fully published and functional website. Using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript you work through the book reading chapters, completing hands-on exercises, and using the knowledge you gained to produce an updated version of the Pacific Trails website. In addition, you learn important web design principles like responsiveness, media-quarries, color selection, readability, and font choice just to name a few.

Course REFLECTION

Web Development Fundamentals taught me so much about web development and how to produce a website by myself. Before I took this course I knew very little about how websites worked. In the past I had experience with website builders such as Wix, and Squarespace and just assumed this was how all websites were made. I didn’t actually realize there was programming languages that can be used to do the same thing. However, now that I know CSS and HTML I can finally throw the website builders to one side and create my very own websites for myself or for other people. In addition, I can see how this would be a very important skill to have and I can’t wait to hopefully bring these skills one day into a future career.

Pacific Trials & my website

Below are screenshots from my work on the course project Pacific Trails, and my website I’ve built as a final course project. These screenshots demonstrate my skills and what I can accomplish. I can’t wait to use these as a reference in the future and see how much I have improved upon.
